My Baby Was Born Silent and Still…

Do you know what it’s like to hold a baby that doesn’t cry?
A baby that doesn’t reach for you?
A baby that doesn’t have a heartbeat?

Do you know what it’s like to blame yourself?
Or what it’s like not knowing if you could have done something sooner?

Do you know what it’s like to have everyone tell you it happened for….a reason?
What reason would take my baby from me?

Do you know what it’s like saying ‘goodbye’ and knowing that….it’s last time you’ll ever hold them?
Or what it’s like leaving the hospital without them?
Or what it’s like crying yourself to sleep?

Do you know what it’s like to lose a child?
What it’s like to say goodbye without ever, ever saying ’hello?’

Giving new meaning to this term, Stillborn, my 22 year old client graciously allowed me the privilege of posting her emotional journal entry so that other moms may find words to describe their loss.  Thank you!
